Global Visits

Transforming educational and cultural exchanges

I am from Kyrgyz Republic and we have a lot of students who are interested in American culture as well as other cultures. In our Institute of Foreign languages we have American study program, International Journalism, Tourism development, Translation stidues. The students of these programs are eager to master English well and they would to communicate with diffeernt cultured peoples. I was a Fulbright scholar in 2002 and I had been in the University of MIchigan for six months with my family and I understood that people need to communicate with each other and as the result of that they will understand more and more and they can be very close friends. They can visit each other and can stay friends for ever. I respect American scholars specially who became familiar for me from the very begining of the Fulbright program. Fulbright program helped me to find a lot good friends and I am so glad that I met so many peopel in the US who became my true friends. I would like to have more friends and to invite them to visist Kyrgzysatn to communicate with the students as well as with the teachers of English and work togther. When you see the country and communicate with them it is quite differnt then reading about them.
I would like to collaborate with English teachers from all over the world and to disscus about different projects and visit the countries of our friends

Hi Zina: Betty told me about you inites for dinner and that you were at the Symposium. She may have told you my health is not good at the moment. Trying to recover from hip replacement surgery. When I was a Fulbright back in 03-04, which now seems the distant past, I taught an American Literature class at both KNU and Arabaev. Can you tell me what you are looking for in American lit teacher? I've also given a class in multi-cultural literature, American that is, but included Hispanic, Native American, African-American and Asian American. Have you ever considered an on-line course in these areas. So, I hope I've given you food for thought. George

A 'Wired' Mission

Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.

For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.

Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.
