Thanks for the notice about your blog. An American professor is already involved in the study group and wants to see how the activity goes beforfe he alerts his students. ARe you going to be involved in the study group? Tell your friends to also be involved. This is a chance to tell Americans about Afghanistan rather than the media.

Also, to avoid confusion, pleae remove your blogs. so people do not respond to the blog but rather to the new discussion.

I do not know how strict they are with their deadlines. My fingers and toes are crossed for you!! An American expression means....hoping to have good luck!!

Elham, I think starting a discussion is a good thing. If you go to the main page, you will see that I have started a group called Afghanistan Study Group. I have invited you as a member to join. There are already four categories for discussion: education, culture, foreign policy and politics. There is already one professor who wants his class to participate and is ready to go and I think also a second. To participate one must be a member of Global Visits. I am going to invite others as well, who are Afghans that you may remember from AUCA and still stay in touch with me. Invite whoever you like to participate. This will carry on for the remander of the semester, and possibly beyond if people are interested. But one must register for Global Visits to partiicpate, which makes sense.

Any questions?

Elham....first off....did you get all your material off to Kroc?

And, there is at least one professor with class who would like to engage with your discussion on Afghanistan. Are you interested? And can you bring others in addition to yourself into the discussion? I would move it from a blog to the group category. I would set it up as an indepedent group that can either be private or open to anyone to join (which I would suggest....we are not exactly facebook in terms of numbers) and let the dialogue flow.

What do you think?

Hello, Elham!
Thank you for your nice words.
I' m really happy to meet you again, too. You were the most interesting bunch of students I ever had, hardworking, determined to work for the benefit of your country. That's exactly what you are doing now.
As for me, I am very happy in this country, it's nice, clean, economically stable, with the President who is reasonable and cares for his people.
David Huwiler who is President of the American University in Bulgaria now invited me to work for his University as coordinator in Belarus. So ,I help recruit students, advise them about the procedure of applying etc. I want them to enjoy the atmosphere of this remarkable University as much as all of us enjoyed studying and working at AUCA in its better years. But AUBG is much better than AUCA, believe me. And I met some students from Kyrgyzstan there ,too.I
I wish you all the best! My warm regards to all former Afghan AUCAers!

Hello Elham....at work all day. I have second thoughts. I read your blog. I think it is important, for continuity, to have your entire piece in the blog. I can see that as one reads it they know there is more. I stand corrected as we say in the US (an American expression!) Do edit to include your entire piece of writing. That will give great material for people to respond.

Thanksgiving, a major American holiday, is this week. People are very distracted as you can imagine!

Elham.....I have changed my thinking. It is probably a good idea if you post your entire thoughts......not editted. As I read your blog I am intrigued, and I think there is more you want to say. Perhaps it is a good idea to blog your first posting with your entire comment.....not a short version. My mistake! And sorry. Cut and paste solves man problems! Does this make sense?

A 'Wired' Mission

Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.

For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.

Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.
