I too would be interested in learning more about this ancient part of the world. What is the culture of the people living there? What are the people called?

A group for anyone to join to discover more about this ancient part of the world -- rich in culture and history -- yet every bit modern today....and its links with the US. Lets talk education, culture, foreign policy.......

Weather; work; and my husbands health. He is not recoverering well from a hip surgery in October no less....still in a brace and has three dislocations since the surgery, the most recent one last Monday. Finding a day to travel to Indy may be impossible. What are your thoughts? I will send an email also via aol.

Thanks for visiting the war-torn Sri Lanka as part of ''Living Letters Team'' in AUGUST 2007. Your team was asked “How many abductions, killings and disappearances more need to be recorded before action is taken?” Thousands more abductions of killings have taken place since then. Journalists have been still barred from the conflict zone. In September 2008 UN aid agencies were ordered out of the conflict zone though they stay in areas of similar conflicts in other countries. Food/medicine/shelter materials have not been allowed to reach the IDPs. Many IDPs getting out of Kilinochchi have been held compulsorily in camps. Even ''normal residents'' have restricted movement within and in and out of Vavuniya where camps have been prepared with barbed wire fencing for future IDPs from Kilinochchi. Jaffna has still been cut off from the rest of the country.

Hii Gal! Just seen your video enjoying a very huge cup of tea/coffee(?) Yaani umeogeza sana hivyo au ni sweta? You look good though. If all food doses and size of facilitating equipment are what I saw, then.... Anyway, great to see you since last. Naomi.

Eunice.....how did the conference in Chicago go? And how are you faring in this winter weather? I cannot imagine that you could find a coat in Kenya that would brace you for our brutal winters!

Did you and Peg get a response about Global Visits while at the conference? I am curious.

I am so swamped, but I need to find a day in Dec or Jan when I can come to Indy and we can all meet, you, Peg and I.

Hi Prof.,
Thanks for the information. Probably I need that. The bishop thinks I should research on catechesis. Being an aspect of evangelisation, I am thinking of doing something about evangelisation in relation to the post-election violence. Ofcourse this will involve peace-building. The emphasis will be on what happened with evengelisation strategies, did catechesis fail? The Rwandan experience where the Catholic had a very strong presence comes to mind. Did the Church fail in its role of bringing Good News? Is evangelisation effective? I am working on an abstract. I hope you will not get tired in assisting me to come up with something of quality.
Best regards.

A 'Wired' Mission

Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.

For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.

Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.
