Welcome to Global Visits George. I'm Betty's husband and a Board Member for the organization and serve as Secretary. We hope you will bring some new activity to G.V. I take it you have joined the Afghan Study Group.
Let me know if I can help in any way.

Hello George: do you work for your Diocese? I also tune in to other ning sites. Global Visits is different as it goes beyond providing a forum for educators to share ideas and learn from each other. This is a new site...the old one had a discussion form and we had several projects linking US university students with students in Central Asia, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria and Kenya. The forums were engaging! You can see the old topics from a button on the main page. We are starting up new projects with this new site, but it has taken time. I find that students spend huge amounts of time on facebook (as do we adults!) but hard to get them to shift over to a set up project on other sites.

Do follow my upcoming blogs and forum on my trip to Kyrgyzstan.

A 'Wired' Mission

Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.

For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.

Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.
