- On I so wish I could stop in Copenhagen....that would be a treat but alas my business awaits me when I return to the US early May. I do remember when we were here in 2003-2004 and I commented on the poverty of Kyrgyzstan prevalent even in the national museum. You mentioned going to POland I believe, and as you left a room in a museum an attendant would be behind you, turning the light off in rooms you were leaving....to save on electricity. IT is quite a commentary, yes? Kyrgyzstan's new President is flirting once again with Russia, or certanly Putin. The previous president was very pro western and US....but he was also very corrupt (is there anyone we support who is not?) and eventually overthrown. Consistent and free elections seems the hardest concept to grasp of a civil society and democracy....esepcially among the elected. You mean I have to give this power up if not re-elected? That sort of thing. This new president is looking for more money and is saying as such, and Russian is dangling all kinds of it in front of him Really sad. This place will no more improve with Russian 'collaboration' than it did under Russian domination.

- Oh Henrik.....your photo is so very fitting! As an American, I envy your Danish lifestyle. We work too hard here and even though we may bring home slighter income related to taxes withheld.....we get so very little for our taxes and what we do bring home goes out the door for health care, education, child care, elderly care. Lets trade!! Well, I can see why you do not want to. Thanks for joining Global Visits!

Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.
For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.
Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.
