A 'Wired' Mission
Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.
For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.
Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.

I know that there would be great interest by American students and their instructors in LebJournal, and having the opportunity to also interact with the writers, if possible. The Americans could only converse in English....that is our malady! I wonder how we can go about this. I am already in contact wth universty colleagues who would be anxious to have their students interact with young adults from Lebanon. By having your link on this web site will encourage people to go to LebJournal which is one avenue. Possible also to have contributors writing in English to start a discussion on the LebJournal group site that Americans can respond to? On the LebJournal group site is a place to start a discussion. I know that one of our instructors recently commented that the dialogue that took place between her US students and those I worked with in LEbanon was invaluable. She continues to hear from them today as one of their best experiences. If we can get that going, I would alert everyone who is a member to the ongoing discussion. What do you think? Other ideas as to how we can help promote LebJournal and also have a collaboration?
