A 'Wired' Mission
Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.
For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.
Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.

The inner workings of Global Visits are beyond me as well. Si, like you, I tend to use e-mail:mtzebra@aol.com I am still in Bloomington, Ill I had a hip replacement last Oct. followed by five dislocations. most recent on 1st of April,
So I am in braces on the left hip and leg all the way to ankle. But, I am still mobile on a limited basis, I knew you had married and left Washington. I hope you are still cooking. I still remember a meal you did at Jo Taffer's many years ago when we stayed with her on a home leave from Southern Africa. You see what an impression you made. The basic intent of G.V is to encourage dialogue and exchange across the board, primariky in education but it goes beyond that.An idea that Betty had many years ago when influenced by Joe Pelton, if you remember him? I use it to keep in touch with people as I did in your case. I'm retired but still semi active still trying to finish a book on the founder of Unitarianism in South Africa already accepted for publication so I need to get busy. Great to hear from you and hope we can stay in touch. Best
George Carter
