Tom....I am attending the '2.0 university'. We need to talk so you can share more about this. Is this a feature we should have on Global Visits. SEems to me yes.

Hi Tom: There is a forum topic underway about how to use Global Visits in the classroom. How varous disciplines -- social sciences, math, humanities, science, etc -- can use Global Visits in the classroom in terms of feasible projects, fitting in the syllabus and curriculum, how one fits this into a grade percenttage, etc. With your experience and background, your input would be perfect!

Also there is a wonderful question by a woman frm CA - Lucy -- who is putting together a peace studies program for grade school students and is looking for ideas.

I sent an email to Gus this AM and told him about the new web site.

The site supports customized notifications quite well: go to the "email" tab under "My settings" from the welcome box in the uppper right of this page:) Just answering my own question.

Betty, I'll try to spend some time on this site--I do get notifications of comments, posted on my wall, but will look for ways to customize my notifications. I think it will work--we've got to make exchanges like this work. There are people in isolation--including in a way, our own students here--who need the kind of interaction on a global scale that this site will help provide. Here are some gathered in an internally displaced persons camp (Pagak) in Northern Uganda.

Peace.

Hello Tom. And welcome aboard.....a few days past. But you know so much about this. I have been working with others. Will be meeting with the bobbr team again this week before all the final phots and vidoes and info is up and running.

Now to see what happens next.

This will work.

A 'Wired' Mission

Go anywhere in the world, and we are 'wired' together by advancing technology. But we have yet to figure out how to 'wire' peace. Our mission is to use this technology to leap over vast cultural and geographical divides, linking students and teachers together, to talk with each other, laugh together, collaborate in a project, share pictures of our families, our favorite songs.....to be friends.

For several years, Global Visits was a pioneer using modern communications technology to linking people together from diverse cultures. We called our efforts 'non traditional' student exchanges.

Now, we join the world of 'social networking' with a serious purpose: peace and understanding.
